What's in a Smoothie?


Our housemate, Lemur has made many smoothies. He lives by the motto, a smoothie a day is the only way.

While, I may not have quite the same smoothie obsession as Lemur, lately, I have found the magical joy of smoothie making a wonderful breakfast activity. Fruit in the morning gives you energy and helps your body digest quickly for maximum efficiency and just makes you feel good all day.

Today, Cloud and I made a fabulous breakfast smoothie from the wonderful ingredients in our fridge and pantry almost ALL of which were found in the Trader Joe's dumpster:

6-10 Organic strawberries
2 Organic bananas
a handful of Organic blueberries
a handful of Organic Goji berries
a dash of ground Cayenne Pepper
a dash of Sea salt
1 tablespoon Flaxseed oil
1/2 cup Aloe juice
2 Organic Pears
1 Organic Apple
a handful of Raw sunflower seeds
a handful of Raw almonds
a pinch of Raw sesame seeds


These ingredients were liquified together with ice (and love) in our old fashioned blender and sprinkled with granola and sweet cacao nibs. YUM!! It made for the most unique breakfast I have ever eaten and was the inspiration for this blog!
